Ambassador Program
Country heritage fall fair ambassador competition
Who can apply?
The Competition is open to those between the ages of 18 and 23 years of age.

What is an Ambassador?
An Ambassador is a person who promotes and publicly represents the organization they have been chosen by.

What are the qualities of a good Ambassador?
Ideally, the Ambassador is comfortable in the public eye, well-groomed, polite, friendly and most of all, passionate about the organization they represent.

What type of events does an Ambassador attend?
An Ambassador might attend various fairs in their district (bringing greetings from their home fair); local parades; annual meetings and workshops; as well as other public opportunities to promote their fair.
Two highlights of the Ambassador program are the OAAS Annual convention and the CNE Ambassador Competition.

Is this a beauty contest?
Absolutely not, this is a leadership program opportunity to encourage young people to grow in their comfort level of engaging with others. Not only are the skills gained during the Ambassadors’ year representing their fair invaluable, but the word Fair Ambassador is a resume asset!

What does an Ambassador wear?
When representing your fair, the Ambassador should be dressed neatly in business casual wear, well-groomed and wearing the fair sash. Remember the Ambassador is the face of the fair when out in public at an event- behaving in an appropriate way. There is no alcohol consumption while ‘on Ambassador Duty.’ Even when off duty, you still represent the fair at the event and must conduct yourself appropriately.

What other perks are there to being an Ambassador?
Ambassadors, while wearing their sash, are celebrities, often being asked for pictures and riding parade floats. The Ambassador has the opportunity to meet, and network with, other young people from all over the province.

The chosen ambassador will be granted a scholarship award at the end of their term.

What is the time commitment?
Traditionally, the Ambassador is on duty during the duration of the fair weekend; other Fair visits in the district (½ a day per fair), important meetings of their fair; when called on to represent the Fair at other public events; Convention in February; and CNE the year after their time ends. These are guidelines and will be discussed when appointed. [School must come first!]
