Teaching Garden

Trial Plots & Display Garden

Country Heritage Park in collaboration with the Plant Science Department at the University of Guelph, Williams Dam Seeds, All American Selections and an expanding list of development partners is establishing a Teaching Trial & Display Garden at Country Heritage Park as part of our Food Literacy Education Programme. The display garden, opened in 2016, contains traditional and non-traditional vegetable and fruit crops, ornamedibles and various flowers.

Our teaching garden just acquired a new feature which emphasizes the importance of food literacy and sustainability. In collaboration with the community and are numerous volunteers, Country Heritage Park was able to build a recycled water bottle greenhouse. This building will be a main feature of our site and will be used in our many education programmes.

Also, a series of gardening, pollination, composting and Food Literacy workshops are under development as part of this initiative.

Continue to watch this space for further developments and announcements.
