Trail of the Conestoga Wagon

This past weekend, Country Heritage Park presented the Trail of the Conestoga Wagon. This event depicted how settlers of the 1800s traveled. There were horse drawn wagon rides and the donator of the Conestoga Wagon, Arnold Rife, was on hand to share his knowledge. The Conestoga Wagon holds special meaning because Arnold's great, great grandfather traveled from Lancaster County Pennsylvania on a Conestoga Wagon to settle in Waterloo Region. Children of all ages enjoyed our many Conestoga Wagon activities that included: pioneer crafts in the school house, the animal train, rope making, a scavenger hunt in the Lucas house and costumed interpreters in our two farmsteads.
P.S. Belgians, Percherons, Clydesdale and Spotted Drafts return to the Park August 11th and 12th to showcase their strength and beauty in our annual Heavy Horse Field Days.

Beth and Carter
Beth and Carter are our two newborn Spotted Draft Horses. They are only 2 months old but they are growing fast. They are being lent to us for the summer by Cedayr Creek Farms. They stay close to their mother’s: Cassidy and Emma are also on loan for the summer.

Welsh Ponies

Welsh Ponies

Country Heritage Park welcomes two new residents to the park. Our new welsh ponies were graciously donated by Chris and Keith Murray. In a contest hosted by the Parent Link and Country Heritage Park, names for the ponies were entered for a chance to win free passes for a day at the Park. Ponies are valued for their kind and gentle disposition and our two ponies are especially sweet! That is part of the reason why the winning names were: Gumdrop and Lollipop. The ponies will be out and available for pony rides all summer long.

Dodge and Legacy

Country Heritage Park introduced our miniature horses the weekend of July 7th and 8th. Dodge is only 27 inches in height and Legacy is only 31 ½ inches
