Trial Plots & Display Garden
Country Heritage Park in collaboration with the Plant Science Department at the University of Guelph, Williams Dam Seeds, All American Selections and an expanding list of development partners is establishing a Teaching Trial & Display Garden at Country Heritage Park as part of our Food Literacy Education Programme. The display garden, opened in 2016, contains traditional and non-traditional vegetable and fruit crops, ornamedibles and various flowers.
A series of gardening, pollination, composting and Food Literacy workshops are under development as part of this initiative.
Our teaching garden will soon be gaining a new feature which will emphasize the importance of food literacy and sustainability. On September 30th, 2017 from 10am to 4pm, volunteers and members of the community will be coming together to build a recycled water bottle greenhouse. This initiative will showcase the importance of reducing the amount of water bottles that are entering our landfills and highlight our need to promote sustainable food growth. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event.
